Access Fund Bids: The role of Shared Transport

Shared transport can improve access to employment, training and key services. It can provide sustainable travel, particularly (but not exclusively) in areas of sparse public transport provision, and cost effective, popular access to new and existing employment, education and training opportunities.

Carplus Bikeplus has published resources to help shape bids to the Access Fund.

Our document clarifies what is meant by shared transport – so that you are better aware of possibilities in relation to your area, and briefly summarises how shared transport can support your bid to the DfT’s Access Fund.

It includes:

  • How shared transport fits into the five cases set out in the bidding documentation
  • Case studies and evidence
  • Examples of shared transport ideas for access fund bids
  • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Links to support and useful contacts.
